Winchester Bay RV Resort

Winchester Bay RV Resort, 120 Marina Way, Winchester Bay, OR 97647

Along Oregon’s Pacific shoreline, about 90 miles SW of Eugene, lies Winchester Bay RV Resort.  This park is a real find for fisherman, but it’s not lacking in appeal for the RVer just looking for an oasis along the coast.  With 138 well-landscaped sites, they are big-rig friendly, offer most amenities (no pool or spa, but most else) and have a really great atmosphere.  The location is A-1, and easily accessible from either the North (US-101 along the Ocean) or from the East (OR-38 from I-5).  Both are very scenic.  I think I’m partial to OR-38, even though it’s undergoing quite a bit of roadwork right now, (Sept 2018) with some potential delays, but it’s really got a lot of charm.  Although there is no shortage of RV parks around Winchester Bay, overall, this park is several cuts above the others in the area.

One caveat:  This place can be really hard to book during crabbing season, unless you allow enough time.  Even a year out may not be enough, depending on rig-size, etc.

Bend/Sisters Garden RV Resort

Bend/Sisters Garden RV Resort, 67667 Highway 20, Bend, OR  97703

Just 18 miles northwest of Bend, Oregon, on Highway 20, you can find Bend/Sisters Garden RV Resort.  105 level asphalt full-hookup sites, both pull-through and back-in.  (Big-Rig friendly)  No shortage of amenities, pool, spa, lake (with a cool fountain), etc.  Bend is a really neat city in central Oregon, and a location I seem to find myself passing through on my way everywhere.  The park is super-comfortable!  Oh, Yeah…when driving highway 20 to Bend, stop by the Bendistillery.  Its a great little spot where you can taste (free) and/or buy hand-crafted spirits and remarkable cocktails.  (AKA Crater Lake Spirits)

Sparks Marina RV Park

Sparks Marina RV Park, 1200 E Lincoln Way, Sparks, NV  89434

Well, there is actually a Marina, although perhaps not what you expect…it’s very small, and rests on a very small man-made lake.  Still, it really is attractive, and makes ‘Sparks Marina’ a factual statement.  About 200 sites, all level concrete pads, back-in and pull-thru, all the normal amenities, friendly, and very inexpensive.  Well maintained and clean as Grandma’s silverware, the park fairly shines.  We routinely use this park as a first-night stop out of Sacramento when heading out across Nevada as it allows for a perfect (and short) first-day’s drive to Elko, where we stay at Iron Horse.  If you have not yet discovered Sparks Marina, do it soon.  A great spot!

Rushmore Shadows RV Resort

Rushmore Shadows RV Resort, 23680 Busted Five Ct., Rapid City, SD  57702

About 11 miles southwest of central Rapid City, South Dakota on highway 16, lies Rushmore Shadows RV Resort.  It’s a sizable park, about 360 sites of various size and description.  Recently remodeled to accommodate more large pull-through demand, the park still maintains a ‘down-home’ flavor.  It’s family friendly, yet still a go-to park for the Sturgis fans!  There is far too much to do nearby to cover here, but Mount Rushmore simply has to be mentioned, only a brief drive away!  All the amenities, spacious pads (some level concrete) and friendly folks.  Check-em out!

StoneRidge MotorCoach Village

StoneRidge MotorCoach Village, 364 Stoneridge Road, Blanchard, ID  83804

OK, imagine the best, most exclusive RV resort you can, then add every amenity you can think of….that’s StoneRidge, in Blanchard!  Just 35 miles north of Coeur D’ Alene, Idaho, this place is a knockout!  I don’t even want to try to cover all it is, but to mention a bit:  Golf (fantastic) Pickle Ball (great courts) Pools & Spas, etc.  This is a class ‘A’ coach only resort, so there’s that limitation, and there’s little or nothing closer than an hour away, but the good part is that the hour trip puts you in Coeur D’ Alene, and that’s really special for a day-trip.  Spokane, Washington  is about the same, but to the West.  You’ll want to look over their website, and then make a plan to go!  Reservations for sure.  This is about a 77-site village.  Plan early!  PS: They will be expecting you…photo at right….

Moss Landing KOA Express

Moss Landing KOA Express, 7905 Sandholdt Rd., Moss Landing, CA  95039

As you may have noticed, it’s somewhat unusual to find a KOA listed in our Good as It Gets RV reviews.   This is not by design, it’s just that we don’t often find KOAs that meet the standard we are trying to maintain.  Still, when we find the right ones (and we do) we will post them!  This park is one of those we feel excels.  Start with location:  Moss Landing is a tiny fishing village along Highway 1, about 18 miles north of Monterey.  The park backs up right to the Marina!  From this point you can easily visit Monterey/Carmel to the south, or Santa Cruz, 26 miles to the north.  With only 46 sites, the park is small and quaint.  The park appears a bit ‘tight’ yet we have had our 45′ Allegro Bus there twice, and very comfortably.  Site alignment seems to make backing in easy enough (they have no conventional pull-through sites).  Staff could not be more friendly and accommodating!   Rates here are a little high, consistent with the areas other accommodations.  All told, we readily recommend Moss Landing KOA for travelers in this area.  We hope you’ll visit them and find out why!

Durango RV Resort

Durango RV Resort, 100 Lake Ave, Red Bluff, CA  96080

The park is situated along a bend in the Sacramento River to the west, and the I-5 to the east, near Red Bluff in the northern California Valley.  They feature Fountain sites, River sites and Buddy (rick-rack) sites.  Of the approx. 172 in total, I believe about 100 are pull-thru.  All pads are level and concrete.  They offer full amenities, and although alongside the busy I-5, it’s flat here, so no engine brake noise.  We found it very good for sleeping.  There is even a full-service spa onsite!  It’s a classy park to be sure, yet affordable.

Deerwood RV Park

Deerwood RV Park, 35059 Seavey Loop Rd., Eugene, OR  97405

Deerwood is a quiet, comfortable, squeaky-clean small to mid-sized park, south of Eugene, just off the I-5.   I counted 75 nicely-paved roadways and pads with full hook-ups, (no pool or spa, at least when we were there in 2017) and a very good overall feel.  Pull-thru sites are limited (I think there are eight) but the back-ins were plenty long enough for our 45′ coach.  This is one of the most relaxing parks we have visited!

Seven Feathers RV Resort

Seven Feathers RV Resort, 325 Quintioosa Blvd., Canyonville, OR  97417

Located about 70 miles north of Medford Oregon on I-5, Canyonville is home to Seven Feathers Casino and Resort (and not much else)   This resort is a true luxury resort, accepting the full scope of motorhomes, trailers and fifth wheels.  The RV resort is tucked into the hills across the highway from the Casino, far enough to avoid freeway noise.  All the amenities, plus all level concrete pads, (191 sites, 104 pull-thru)  To say that the park is ‘manicured’ doesn’t really say enough.  This park is immaculate, staff is professional and friendly, and rates are within reason.  Please spend some time reviewing their website, and if traveling thru southern Oregon on the I-5, make the stop.  It’s well worth it.

Iron Horse RV Resort

Iron Horse RV Resort, 3400 E. Idaho St., Elko, NV  89801

Iron Horse sits just off Interstate 80, on the Eastern edge of Elko.  The entire park is well below the elevation of the highway and frontage road, making for quiet nights.  Also, it is adjacent to the Hilton Garden Inn, providing some great benefits, restaurant, etc.  This is a mid-sized park of about 100 well maintained and level sites, some concrete.  For me, the Elko location makes getting across Nevada a lot easier, and the classy feeling you’ll note here is welcomed!  This park offers a lot of bang for your RV buck!
